Datalogic was founded in 1972 and had its origin in the optical sensor business, serving the Automation Industry. Towards the end of the 70s it moved into the field of bar code technology and very soon became the European leader in industrial applications.

Today, Datalogic is a world-class producer of bar code readers, data collection mobile computers, RFID systems and photoelectric devices for detection with corporate headquarters in Bologna, Italy. The company employs approximately 2,900 staff in 30 countries, has over 1,000 partners worldwide, eight research and development labs with 300 engineers, and offers outstanding solutions for many industrial sectors, from manufacturing to transportation & logistics and retail.

As for the US operation in Oregon — Datalogic ADC, Inc — it started as Spectra-Physics Scanning Systems Inc., which employed over 500 assembling scanners. New York-based PSC Inc. bought the company in 1996, and Datalogic bought PSC in 2005, renaming the Eugene division Datalogic ADC.

Handheld computers

Datalogic offers a number of handheld computers, ranging from the small, slender (but very rugged) Memor; to the compact Skorpio that has an integrated alphanumeric keypad for rapid data entry; to the versatile Falcon that's available with a variety of keyboards and keypads; to the modern, versatile DL-Axist and Memor 10; to the hand Datalogic Joya that adapts to any situation and fits into a shirt pocket.

Pistol grip computers

Depending on the application, a pistol grip can greatly enhance job ergonomics and reduce fatigue. As a result, Datalogic offers Pistol Grip versions of its Skorpio, Memor and Joya handhelds.

Vehicle mounted computers

Many mobile field applications require vehicle-mounted computers, and for those applications Datalogic offers the Blackline of ultra-rugged panel computers that come with various screen sizes, as well as the Rhino II vehicle mounted computer.

Industrial PDAs

While all of Datalogic's computers and terminals a rugged and built to last, none more so than the Pegaso industrial PDA. Its durable construction and extensive elastomer overmold man it can easily handle 5-foot drops. It is also technologically advanced, with a full VGA display, GSM/EDGE cellular data, SDIO, and numerous wired and wireless options.
