OULU, Finland — October 21, 2022 — Bittium announced that has delivered secure Bittium Tough Mobile™ 2 smartphones to Tutus, a Swedish expert in certified network encryption solutions. The delivery is a continuation for the previous cooperation, that led into a development of a high-level security mobile solution, which combines Bittium's secure Bittium Tough Mobile 2 smartphone platform and Tutus' encryption solution approved by the Swedish government. Tutus Data AB is the main supplier in Sweden of certified IT security products approved by the Swedish government. This mobile solution, designed especially for critical communication and for a mobile environment, will be delivered to a large Swedish authority. Devices will be delivered to the end customer during 2022. The order does not change the company's financial outlook for 2022.
"Typically, countries use encryption solutions approved by their own government, and Bittium's offering also includes platform level data security for partners. This collaboration is a great example of how an encryption solution approved by the target country is combined with Bittium's secure smartphone platform," says Mr. Jari Sankala, Senior Vice President, Defense & Security at Bittium. "We are proud of the cooperation between the two Nordic countries, which enables this innovative information security solution for critical communication."
"We are excited about the first customer delivery and the continued cooperation with Bittium. The emerging trend is that public safety and tactical technologies are converging, and the demand for secure and ruggedized smartphones among authorities is growing", says Jens Bohlin, CEO of Tutus.
Bittium Tough Mobile™ 2 is fully designed and manufactured in Finland and Bittium ensures supervised and secure manufacturing and supply of the smartphones to the customers. Also, the component and software solutions of the phone can be audited for use by authorities. Bittium Tough Mobile™ 2 has a significantly longer availability and lifespan and better availability of security updates compared to conventional smartphones. The unique information security built within the smartphone includes several encryptions- and authentication features, tamper-proof information security platform as well as a privacy mode. With a touch of a button, it is possible to disable microphones, camera and Bluetooth, and the accuracy of sensors is reduced.
