AUSTIN, Texas, USA — August 22, 2017 — Xplore Technologies Corp (NASDAQ: XPLR) announced that one of the largest broadband and wireless telecommunications companies in the United States has ordered $2.7 million worth of Android-powered "mobile office" bundles to support the growth of its field-based workforce.
Starting in late August, thousands of Construction division technicians will be equipped with quality- engineered Xplore XSLATE D10 fully rugged Android tablet PCs, which feature a 10.1" sunlight-readable multi-touch display, 4GB RAM, and a 64GB SSD that's powered by Android 5.1 Lollipop and an Intel® Atom E3845 Quad Core Processor. Xplore Platinum Partner SHI International Corp. will configure and implement the mobility solutions for project.
The global-reaching voice, video and data service provider first standardized their entire U.S.-based Construction division on Xplore's RangerX Pro Android Tablets in 2014 and 2015 after completing its transition to a fully paperless business system. With this order, the telco has opted to upgrade to the newer generation XSLATE D10 rugged tablet technology. This decision comes on the heels of a separate $13.5 million purchase by the telecom service provider in August 2016, which led to the standardization of another business unit — the fiber optics service division — on Xplore XSLATE D10 rugged Android tablets.
"This tier-one telco continues to expand its relationship with Xplore because we have been able to deliver highly customized mobility solutions for their unique field-based workflows," explained Mark Holleran, president and CEO of Xplore. "They require a best-in-class workforce mobility solution to maintain the exceptional network and service quality demanded of their more than 144 million residential and commercial customers. Xplore's ultra-flexible Android rugged tablet platform is the only one that's proven time and again to meet their high performance, cost efficiency and productivity standards of this Fortune 15 company."
The Xplore XSLATE D10 tablet is unique in that it boasts eight standard I/O ports, including an add-on HDMI input that enables service technicians to quickly test video quality and network speeds for its set-top box- delivered services. The uncompromising computing capabilities and specialized feature combination of the IP65 and HazLoc-compliant device have also enabled the telco's Construction personnel to more proficiently place, move, rearrange, connect, disconnect, maintain, transfer, reroute and remove aerial and underground plant infrastructure, including service drops, house cables and building terminals. The XSLATE D10's LED backlit display makes it easy to view schematics and technical manual instructions while working outdoors. The pen and Glove touch capabilities, camera and voice data inputs then allow field technicians to document installation, inspection and maintenance actions in real-time. This enables them to clear work orders immediately upon completion, without having to return to the office.
