Tablet PC convertible with terrific hi-res screen

Initially a companion to, and then the replacement of, Toshiba's terrific Portege 3500 notebook convertible, the Portege M200 is a very handy convertible with a choice of two fast, efficient Intel processors, good onboard expansion, and everything that made the old Portege 3500 so good. Like with all current convertibles, the 12.1-inch display can be rotated and laid flat, converting the notebook into a tablet. At its launch, the most attractive aspect of the M200 was its 1400x1050 pixel TFT, almost twice that of any other Tablet PC. The display is now available elsewhere and it doesn't offer the wide viewing angle of the Hydis LCD. The M200 is a very solid performer that stands up well to abuse, but we never saw it as a truly compelling improvement over the Portege 3500, and actually a setback in some details (pen garage, fewer card slots). That role is played by the newer Tecra M4, but the smaller M200 is still an excellent machine for those who need a compact convertible with much higher resolution thah the usual 1024x768.
